The Reverend Samantha Vincent Alexander

Greetings and welcome to Church of the Ascension on the web.  If you are not a member, I hope that you will consider visiting us.  As was often told to me as I was discerning my call to ministry in the Episcopal Church, to really know a church, you must worship with them.  Especially for Episcopal Churches, our identity can be perceived best in our worship.  I have been at Ascension for a couple of years.  From the very beginning, Ascension has welcomed me, as they do all people, with open arms.  All you have to do is be here for the exchanging of the peace during the service to see the love that permeates this parish.  Love of your neighbor and God is the greatest commandment.  That is something that we practice every day here, whether it be through our Christian education, our fellowship, outreach…. the list goes on.

For my part I am very involved with the youth and young adults of our parish.  Our junior and senior high group has grown a great deal in the past two years.  It has been a tremendous learning experience for me.  I even learned how to blog!   Another one of my passions is young adult ministry.  We have a monthly supper club that incorporates food, fellowship, and spiritual exploration.  We have been doing it for some time now and it is a lot of fun.  Our young adult group does other social activities as well as monthly outreach.

Ascension is my first full time job in ministry and in many ways my first real church home.  It is a great privilege for me to be here at Ascension, working with the people of Ascension.  It really is an amazing community.  If this is your church home, thank you for making it what it is.  If it in not, come visit us and stay for lunch.

Take care,

Samantha Vincent Alexander
