Fellowship plays such an important part in the life at Church of the
Ascension. We hope that you will take full advantage of the opportunities
presented!
Planned Events
Breakfast and Lunch Each Sunday
-
Different people sign up to prepare meals during the church year. A donation is
accepted to cover the cost of the meal, and the balance covers the operating
expenses of the kitchen.
"Pig Picking"
- An annual event that is held
every Fall, with our people preparing the pig and fixings for a real feast. This
is held in our backyard "River Pavilion" and features a dessert
contest, volleyball, and many door prizes. It's one you don't want to miss!
Halloween Party and Piņata Bashing
- A big lunch and
extra fun for the children. This event is held at the end of October.
Fall
Festival
- An annual undertaking of ambitious
Ascension ladies, held on a Saturday in late Fall. This features handcrafted
items, wonderful baked goodies, jellies and pickles; also a delicious home-made lunch, plants and
dried arrangements.
Christmas Dinner
- Turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes,
gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, dessert....Yum! This
is the time to bring your friends and relatives, and show them just how well we
are fed. The proceeds from this dinner are the main source of the Fellowship
Commission's operating income.
Advent and Lenten Potluck Suppers
- These are held in
coordination with seasonally planned programs.
Wine Tasting
- A really fun evening! We learn
a little bit about wine and raise some money for worthwhile causes.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
- Make "Fat
Tuesday" a reality by enjoying pancakes, sausage , and apples prepared by
the youth of the church.

Annual Church Picnic
- this is held in June, in
our backyard "River Pavilion." A glorious folk Eucharist is celebrated outside
(weather permitting) as God's perfect creation surrounds us. Following the
service, our men grill the hamburgers and hotdogs, and each family brings a dish
to share. Volleyball, children's games, door prizes, and cakewalks are a part of
this day. Bring your chair and join the fun!
Special Receptions
- We have a volunteer group formed to
handle church-related receptions for special events. This includes receptions as
requested for church members whose funerals or memorial services are conducted
at our church. The latter type of reception operates on available contributions
from the bereaved family and friends.
Easter Day Reception
- Our grandest and largest
reception, held after the 11:00 AM service.
Young And Not So Young Adults (YANSY)
-Annual Christmas Party - A purely
social gathering for potluck dinner and fellowship with our church family.
Held on aSaturday evening in December.
